What to take with you to jungle

When preparing for a longer trip to the Ecuadorian Amazon, it’s important to pack wisely to ensure your comfort and safety in the rainforest environment. Here’s a suggested packing list:

1. Clothes

  • Lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying shirts and pants
  • Long-sleeved shirts and long pants to protect against insects and sun exposure
  • T-shirts and shorts for hotter days
  • Undergarments and socks
  • Swimsuit
  • Light rain jacket or poncho
  • Hat or cap for sun protection
  • Comfortable hiking shoes or boots
  • Sandals or water shoes for walking in rivers or streams
  • Sleepwear
  • Something bit warmer for for rainy days or nighttime ceremonies

2. Gear and Equipment:

  • Backpack or daypack for excursions
  • Water-resistant dry bag for protecting valuables and electronics
  • Binoculars for bird watching and wildlife spotting
  • Insect repellent with high DEET concentration
  • Sunscreen with high SPF
  • Sunglasses
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Headlamp with red light or flashlight and extra batteries
  • Travel adapter for electrical outlets
  • More batteries

Personal Care Items:

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Wet wipes
  • Prescription medications and any necessary over-the-counter medications
  • First aid kit with basic supplies (band-aids, antiseptic ointment, pain relievers, etc.)
